Asante Kotoko are on cloud nine having maintained an impressive form in the opening fixtures of the Ghana Premier League. The Kumasi-based will be put to a stern test this weekend as they trek to Karela United.

Coach Prosper Ogum and his entire staff have gone through another form of massive training to get a better outcome in the western part of Ghana. The team took their training to Astro Turf as a way of acclimatizing with what they will encounter at Karela United. The training on the artificial pitch has raised their confidence level in the quest to make it five wins out of five games.

After beating Dreams FC in the opening day of the season, Asante Kotoko did not disappoint as they defeated Bechem through second half goals, as similar scenario transpired in day one. Prosper Ogum and his lads journeyed to Bibiani to smash Gold Stars home invincibility through Isaac Oppong’s strike. They completed their fourth game with a win over Eleven Wonders.

The league leaders have been arranged in a manner such that, they become fortified in the second half of games played and get goals in addition. The blend of old and new players seems to be working to perfection for Asante Kotoko as new players such as Isaac Oppong have found the back of the net. They are delightful in attack whiles maintaining a sense of vigilance and caution at the rear. Telepathy is gradually breeding among the players as they look to avoid a slip going into week five.

Asante Kotoko travel to Anyinase with appreciable record after snatching three points last season. This will apparently urge Asante Kotoko to repeat similar performance and get back to Kumasi with five wins.

Meanwhile, coach Bismark Kobby Mensah of Karela United has indicted his team’s readiness to battle it out to the last minute with log leaders. Playing at home will hand them the needed impetus to attack for glory. They will desire to take full charge of possession and bang goals with the slightest blunder. The former Samartex coach is optimistic of halting the blistering form and winning streak of Asante Kotoko. He intends to encourage his players to go into the game with a winning mentality and avert any form of pressure.

Even though the team has undergone monumental changes from what was assembled last season, that cannot be a major yardstick for mediocrity. Having lost to Medeam in the western derby, Karela United are poised for redemption.
