Eskom has announced that stage 6 load shedding will resume this coming week because its system is still insecure.
Stage 4 load shedding is presently in effect throughout the nation and will last through Sunday midnight.
Rolling blackouts were caused by a recent unprotected strike by certain workers, according to Eskom, which estimated that it would take a few weeks for the system to fully recover to pre-strike levels.
The utilities and the unions are still in salary negotiations.
Stage 6 will begin again on Monday in the afternoon, according to Eskom spokeswoman Sikonathi Mantshantsha.
It is predicted that load shedding will be progressively reduced to Stage 2 by the weekend, depending on several factors, such as the number of personnel going back to work fully and urgent equipment repairs. Eskom will communicate and make any necessary modifications if they become necessary between now and then, of course."
