Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has assured that his government will put and end to cult activities in all secondary schools in the state.
Speaking at the Redeem Christian Church of God in Ibesikpo on Sunday where he attended a Thanksgiving service to mark the retirement of the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Godwin Abraham, the Akwa Ibom governor reiterated his commitment towards eradicating cultism in the state, stating that if parents join hands with him in this fight, cultism in the state will become a thing of the past in few years.
"I am sure in our days we didn’t hear cultism in Secondary School, but these days in Secondary Schools and if case is not taken, Primary Schools, it is absolute rubbish and we need to kill that monster in our state, else those who are cheering it now will regret it. I want to urge our parents to join in this fight by always reminding their children that cultism will only bring them sorrow at the end of the day. With this, we will be able to build a state devoid of cult activities." The governor said.
Harping on his successor, Gov. Udom Emmanuel avowed not to follow the directives of men in choosing who will succeed him by 2023. The Chief Executive Officer of the state opined that he will wait on God to show him the way.
