The Eldoret-Webuye highway collision involving a matatu and a trailer at Kosachei near Turbo has been claimed to have killed six persons.
A tipper that had abruptly halted was struck by a 14-seater matatu owned by Trippin Sacco early on Sunday morning when it was traveling toward Webuye with an unknown number of passengers.
Soon after, a different NNUS Sacco matatu traveling in the direction of Eldoret stopped at the left side of the road to rescue the victims.
The second NNUS Sacco matatu was struck by a trailer traveling toward Webuye during the evacuation drill before it overturned.
Other others suffered significant injuries. With one passenger still inside, the matatu is still stuck below the trailer.
As attempts are made to remove the cars, victims have been brought to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.
NTSA has reported that many road accidents have been happening on the Kenyan roads in the last few years.
