Profile of the EC Boss- Miss Jean Mensah
Miss Jean Mensah is a reputable lawyer in Ghana.Prior to becoming the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, which was then held by miss Charlotte Osei, Jean Mensa spent an 18 year career at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) . Due to her deligent effort to strengthen democracy and promotion of stronger institution she was on her way to becoming the executive director.
Through her career, what she might be remembered for was her involvement in drafting out new policies to strengthen the 1992 constitution (the Political Parties Funding Bill, and the Revised Political Parties Bill). Due to her hard work, she was noticed by the president of Ghana, Nana Akuffo Addo who sworn her into office July 23, 2020.
She has achieved a lot in her career. During the year, 2017, she was ranked by the African Network of Entrepreneurs (TANOE) as one of the Top 60 outstanding, inspiring and hardworking corporate women leaders in Ghana . She has won several awards including the Excellent Leadership Award by the EXLA Group (2013) and the Young Professional Role Model in Governance Award presented by the Young Professionals and Youth Coalition Initiative in 2014
If she would not be remembered for anything at all, she would be remembered on how she stood tall and how she acted boldly during to petition to the supreme court on the compilation on a new voter's register. She is actually a role model to women
