An outspoken Member of Parliament has revealed that she named her son William Ruto after Deputy President William Ruto because she adores him.
Garissa Woman Representative, Anab Subow Gure, said on Monday in Kiambaa constituency while campaigning for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate, John Njuguna, that her love for Ruto inspired her to name her son after the second in command.
Gure added that her son is now two years old and walking.
"My name is Anab Gure, and I am from Garissa. You can call me Mama Ruto."
"My affection and support for the deputy president inspired me to name my son Ruto. He has grown into a man. Ruto is two years old and can walk. I know you love Ruto just as much as I do here in Kiambaa "said the lawmaker.
Her words electrified the women in the room, who cheered in support of her statement.
Anab urged residents to vote for the UDA candidate on July 15th.
UDA is linked to DP Ruto.
