History was made on October 2nd 2018 when the world's largest passenger airliner,the famous Airbus A380,made a historic journey to Accra.The fact that it's the first time a plane of this size has graced our airport,and more significantly,being piloted by a Ghanaian named Captain Solomon Quainoo,was a proud moment for all.
He is an airliner pilot and Captain with over 100,000 flying hours and has worked for respected international airlines.Captain Solomon Quainoo completed Koforidua Secondary Technical school in the the year 1986.He went to obtain his Bachelor of science degree in mathematics,physics and Geology from the University of Ghana before proceeding to Kingston University in London for his Master Engineering degree in Aerospace,Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering.
He has charged all students to be focused,determined and work hard to achieve their dreams since that with support and from family and friends,got him to where he is now.
He said that it was a great struggle for him to become a pilot since he grew up poor,but he remained focus and determined."At six years old I saw plane and I wanted to be a pilot.It was not an easy path coming from a poor family.He said.
There were lots of challenges but I remained determined and kept pushing forward.Quainoo said.And he ended by saying that it took a lot of hard work because he did not grow up from a rich family.
