The Orlando Pirates have chosen and introduced their new head coach in advance of the upcoming season.
The Buccaneers did not have a head coach during the previous season, therefore Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids were in control of the squad during the entire campaign.
The news of José Riveiro's presence at the club and his subsequent appointment as head coach was recently made public.
The Pirates have agreed to hire the coach on a three-year deal that will keep him employed with the club until 2025.
"To begin, I would like to extend a warm hello to everyone who follows the Orlando Pirates soccer team. It gives me great pleasure to be a member of the club "stated the head coach during his introduction.
It is anticipated that the club's former head coach, Ncikazi, will serve in an assistant capacity for the coach.
Given that the Buccaneers have gone multiple seasons without winning a league title, the pressure will be on Riveiro to deliver a league championship for the team.
The Pirates are anticipated to report back to training and begin getting ready for the preseason.
