Imo: Chieftain puts Okorocha and Uzodimma on the spotlight over corruption.

Ezumoha has once again lent his voice to the ongoing debate in Imo state where he has criticised the former governor Rochas Okorocha and the present governor Hope Uzodimma for acts of corruption and unaccountability to the people of Imo.

He made his feelings known through a statement he released on his social media handle where he showed displeasure with the governor of the state. He stated that the governor called a stakeholders meeting on the 27th of February and he took time to explain the activities of Rochas' government but couldn't explain in details how he has been spending the revenue accruals to Imo state. See the statement here

He wrote" The Governor listed 46 road projects that he has either rehabilitated or newly constructed in the State, to the applause of his assembled Stakeholders. In the speech, he stated that “the total initial worth of contracts for Okigwe - Owerri and Orlu - Owerri Roads, awarded to The German company, Messrs. Craneburg was N55b”.

Disappointing enough, no cost tag was placed on the other 44, out of 46 road contracts listed by Sen. Hope Uzodinma. Funny enough, the Stakeholders applauded the Governor without asking pertinent questions bothering on how much the State has realized and spent or is spending on rehabilitating or construction of these roads and other projects".

He wondered why someone seeking equity and probity couldn't do the same on his own watch while putting that of another on the spotlight.

On Former governor Rochas, PolySamez said "It’s not surprising therefore that Sen. Rochas Okorocha, the erstwhile Governor was reported to have asked the same question for them by requesting that Sen. Hope Uzodinma, the Governor should account for:

- the N60b loans he obtained

- the N56b Federal Allocations he received

- the N8b ISOPADEC Funds

- the N46b Local Government Funds and

- the IGR of N69b, of his one year in office.

In my opinion, though Sen. Okorocha shouldn’t be the appropriate person to demand accountability from any government because he never rendered any throughout his 8years misrule of the State, he has raised a red flag that conscionable Stakeholders should step upon as base for accountability requests from the Governor."

These claims are weighty and needs to be addressed by these two men involved.

Recall that the former governor and the present governor have been involved in a rift over the ownership of some properties in the state. The state government has accused Senator Rochas of using the state's funds to construct those properties, an accusation the former governor has denied.

Some of the properties were locked up by the state government, prompting the former governor resorting to self help in reclaiming the properties. He was subsequently arrested by the police and later released.

A court has since ordered a temporary forfeiture of the properties pending when the determinative suite before it is heard and adjudicated.

What are your thoughts concerning these allegations?Chief Ezumoha
