Kisumu MCA Vows To Play For Struggling Arsenal At 50

Kisumu Kajulu Ward Rep Hon Roy Samo.

On Wednesday, June 24, a Kisumu county ward representative moved the mammoth crowed at ASK Mamboleo grounds following his witty remark that he will play for the struggling English Premier League side Arsenal and ensure the club wins trophies.

Kajulu ward MCA Roy Samo said he will play for Arsenal immediately he turns 50, adding that the club is being beaten every day. He said despite his age and the fact that he had hung his boots, he can still play for the struggling EPL club Arsenal, something that sent hundreds of people who thronged Mamboleo showground for groundbreaking ceremony into laughter.

Samo made such remarks during the groundbreaking ceremony, which saw ASK Mamboleo grounds renamed to Jomo Kenyatta International stadium, a massive project yet to begin.

"In Kisumu, I want to say we only have one governor who is working in the county and he's also working in the national government, and because of that 'waziri', I am a proud man today because Kajulu ward is going to have a stadium here.

And you know I am a serious footballer, but now my age is catching up with me, but I realize that when I turn 50, I must come back and go to play for Arsenal because they're being beaten every day," said Kajulu ward rep Hon Samo.

Kisumu County governor Peter Anyang Nyong'o and Sports CS Amina Mohamed on Wednesday 24 June,2020 launched Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu.

He reiterated that he will use the new facility as his training ground lauding Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed and Kisumu county governor Anyang Nyong'o for doing a tremendous job of installing an international stadium in his ward.

On Wednesday, June 24, 2020, Sports CS Amina Mohamed, Kisumu county governor Anyang Nyong'o, a section of Kisumu County MCAs, Kisumu County CECs and several county officials laid a foundation stone at the ASK Mamboleo grounds before renaming the facility to Jomo Kenyatta International stadium and later renamed Jomo Kenyatta Sports ground to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga in his honor.
