Reason for the suspension was disclosed in the statement which stated that there are valid fears of security breach and possible hijack of the protest by some entities for their political gains.
In the statement, Asefon distanced NANS from the "Buhari Must Go" protesters who are planning to join the demonstration on June 12th. He stated that student association's sole aim was "to protest for better security and improved welfare for our students."

It should be recalled that activist Deji Adeyanju and Omoyele Sowore had given their full support for the protests and had promised to participate.
The decision by the NANS is valid and commendable. We cannot afford to witness another form EndSARS which could lead to loss of lives.
