Federal Government of Nigeria has threatened to declare state of emergency in Anambra State to ensure that the November 6 gubernatorial election is hitch-free.
According to TVC news, this was disclosed on Wednesday by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, after the Federal Executive Council meeting, at presidential Villa, Abuja.
Malami said the government was determined to ensure a hitch-free gubernatorial election in Anambra State. He explained that no possiblity is rule out to declare state of emergency in the state.
" When our national security is attacked and the sanctity of our constitutionally guaranteed democracy is threatened, no possiblity is rule out." Said Minister of Justice.
Meanwhile, following the recent attacks on public facilities in South east region of the country, the Independent National Electorial Commission (INEC) expressed fears over the worsening security challenges in Anambra State.
The Anambra State's governorship election is expected to hold on Saturday 6th of November, 2021.
