A 31-year-old man was lynched by mob in Mbita town, Homabay County after he was caught red-handed selling 3-year-old child to unknown man on Wednesday morning.
Homabay County police commander Jared Okinyi who confirmed the said that they suspect the child was abducted in one of the villages in Homabay County.
"We rescued the child and he is currently under the care at Homa Bay town children's home. I call upon the residents of Homabay County and its environment to be alert now that the cases of child abduction rate are alarming," Jared said.
The full identity of the suspect some locals referred to as Patrick could not found.
His customer after getting the wind that the suspect was being traced, he fled to unknown direction.
The security officers are on his hunt.
He was surrounded by charged crowd who beat him mercilessly with all sorts of crude weapons they come across with.
Jared attributed the latest report to high rate of youth unemployment in Homabay County and its neighbouring counties.
The suspect later succumbed while being rushed to Homabay town hospital for emergency treatment.
The police boss urged the charged group to refrain from taking the law into their own hands whenever they come across such like incidents.
