Borabu MP Calls For Investigations as Keroka Residents Decry Police Brutality Implementing Curfew

Borabu MP Ben Momanyi has asked Authorities to investigate an incident where a medic was assaulted by the Police in Keroka. Nyamira County is among the 13 counties in the country where the government imposed a 7 PM curfew to curb the spread of Covid-19. The medic was from duty at the time when the incident occurred despite belonging to a special group of critical service providers.

"The unfortunate incident in Keroka where a medic was assaulted by the police yesterday night should be investigated. Police should implement Covid-19 protocols cautiously. It's the same station where a taxi driver was blocked while taking a kid to hospital. The kid died later." Ben Momanyi.

Not long ago, The Police officers from the same police station had blocked a taxi driver who was taking a kid to the hospital. The kid didn't make after the delay to save the life. Residents have accused the police of using underhand methods to effect the 7pm to 4am curfew.

The legislator who is eyeing the 2022 Nyamira County Gubernatorial seat becomes the first high Ranking official to decry the police brutality. The heightened Covid-19 regulation protocols was effected after the counties registered rising cases of COVID-19.
