Hours after United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Daniel Musau beat Wiper candidate Eshio Mwaiwa to come second in the just concluded Nguu/Masumba Ward by-election, Deputy President William Ruto has come out to congratulate Musau.
Taking to his social media accounts, Ruto congratulated Musau of UDA, saying Thursday's results were a clear indication that they are breaking barriers in local politics and establishing a new trend where Kenyans elect leaders based on policies and issue-based politics.
The seemingly jubilated Ruto thanked the Ukambani residents for standing in solidarity with his UDA candidate, who defeated the region's kingpin Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper candidate.
He also congratulated the winner and Wiper candidate Eshio Mwaiwa for the hard-fought race.
"This is refreshing! Hongera Mheshimiwa Timothy Maneno kwa ushindi wako! Hats off Hon. Eshio Mwaiwa of Wiper for your brave show," read part of Ruto's comment.
The seat was won by an independent candidate Timothy Maneno with 2,902 votes, Musau of UDA second with 2,219 votes and Mwaiwa of Wiper came third with 1,614 votes.
Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday night, also took time to congratulate the winner and UDA candidate for coming second in the hotly contested mini poll.
