Chelsea and Manchester United will clash in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday as both clubs aim to be the side that will join Arsenal in this season's FA Cup final. Arsenal surprised most football pundits by beating Manchester City in their semi-final match on Saturday.
Manchester United have the upper hand going into this fixture as they are in a better form than Chelsea. They are unbeaten in 19 games in all competitions and have almost all their players in form.
In contrast, the blues have been inconsistent throughout this season and you just can't predict the exact performance you will be getting from Lampard's men each week. On returning from the break the blues beat Man City at Stamford bridge and then lost to West Ham in their next match, that being a good example of what I mean.
On top of this, the two sides have already met three times this season with this coming FA Cup fixture being the fourth. For Chelsea to win this one they must do what they couldn't do in those 3 previous meetings with United, which is not to lose.
For their meeting on Sunday, we have put up a Manchester United and Chelsea combined 11. And it shouldn't be surprising that this combined team have more United players than Chelsea as United is the in form team.
Our Man United and Chelsea combined 11
For the goal keepers' position, David de Gea makes the team ahead of his fellow Spanish international Kepa. De Gea is no longer the goal keeper he used to be but since he returned from the break his form has been good.
Chelsea's Kepa on the other hand is yet to justify his tag as the world most expensive keeper. He has made a lot of mistakes this season and currently don't look confident.
Our choice for the right back position is Manchester United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The England international is not at his best when going forward but what he does at the back is world class. He is known for his tackling ability, a wingers worst nightmare.
In his prime, the Chelsea Captain, Cesar Azpilicueta would have occupied this position. He is still a dependable defender but between the two, Wan-Bissaka is by far the better player.
The Centre back positions is taken by Maguire and his Manchester United partner Lindelof. Since he made the £80 million move from Leicester to Manchester United last summer, Maguire has been far from dependable.
He only made it in to the team because of the recent struggles of Chelsea's Rudiger. Since returning from the break Rudiger has lost form, Lampard had to leave him on the bench for 2 straight games following his mistakes in the West Ham match, which Chelsea lost 3-2.
Rudiger''s centre back partners Kurt Zouma and Christensen have just not been good enough, Zouma in particular keeps making costly mistakes at the back.
Azpilicueta's versatility has seen him get included into this team after losing out to Wan-Bissaka on the right. Over the years he has proved himself to be capable of playing on the left back position and this season have been no different. He comes in ahead of Luke Shaw who is a doubt for the match.
Pogba, Kovacic and Bruno Fernandes takes the three positions in the middle of the park. Since returning from injury after the break, Pogba has been showing everyone why United spent big to buy him from Juventus 4 years ago.
Kovacic has been Chelsea's best midfielder this season, he comes in ahead of N'Golo Kante who has struggled with niggly injuries this season.
Bruno Fernandes has been a revelation since his first match in the Premier League, he just can't stop assisting and scoring in the Premier League. If he had started the season with Manchester United he would have been the sole contender for the Premier League player of the season award.
This part of the pitch is dominated by United players with one Chelsea player coming in. United players Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have been really good this campaign, both have 17 goals and are in form.
The Chelsea player to make it in to the team in this position of the pitch is U.S international Christian Pulisic. Apart from having the skills, he has the end product to back it up. He has been Chelsea's best player since English football returned.
Of course the better players don't always win as demonstrated by the semi-final between Arsenal and Manchester City. Victory can only be determined on the field of play.and not on paper.
What do you think about the combined 11 we made, is there any player you would rather replace? If yes tell us who and why you feel so. Finally what is your prediction for the game?
