IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati's Job Could be at Stake After Uhuru Issued This Gazette Notice


Kenyans will soon be heading towards a general elections where to they expect to elect leaders who will steer the country for another five years. Political leaders are already forming alliances that will ensure they have a smooth campaigns across the country and win the top seat. There are also other speculations that the elections could be postponed due to the trying times we are in of corona virus that is killing across the country.

Apart from the general elections, Kenyans have also been having a debate on whether and when the Building Bridges Initiative BBI will be passed. The bill seeks to see constitutional amendments to the already existing 2010 constitution. It's proponents have insisted that the bill will have to be passed before we have an election.

With that in mind, president Uhuru Kenyatta today has unconstitutionally appointed members of the IEBC. The board members are expected to sit and get the new commissioners that would fill the vacancies that are available. Equally there are also rumours that the commissions CEO Wafula Chebukati might be sent parking home and a new chair appointed.
