A group of 21 teenagers at a tarven in Eastern Cape, with the youngest being 13 died, died on Saturday between 2:13am and 4am. This incident angered South Africa, and brought Manny questions as to how the young children gained access to the tarven.

The group of children were said to be celebrating 'pens down' which is an event children use to mark the end of exam season.

Bheki Cele said "They were dancing and when they collapsed they were just pushed away from the dance floor and left to die.”

The incident is still under investigation, in order for officials to understand the circumstances of the deaths. There is still a lot of speculation around the incident.

It is not clear at this point if the children were poisoned, however, authorities have ruled out the possibility of a stampede being the caused of death.

Bheki Cele also urged parents to be accountable and to know the whereabouts of their children.
