Super Eagles defender Kevin Akpoguma is one of the respected figures in Nigerian senior national team currently.

Nigeria can boast of a lot of defenders who are very rich and Akpoguma is one of them.

The multi dimensional defender currently plies his trade in Germany for 1899 Hoffenheim.

Despite being rich, Akpoguma is very good on the field as he is one of the best players in his club.

The 26-year-old guardsman earns £18000 per week and a yearly salary of £936000 yearly, according to Salary Sports.

Born in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Akpoguma had his football education at Rot-Weiß Speyer, Schwarz-Weiß Speyer, FC Bavaria Wörth and FC Neureut 08.

He was picked up by Karlsruher SC youth team in 2007. Akpoguma appeared in 8 games for the senior side.

Akpoguma linked up with Hoffenheim in 2013.

There was this interesting moment in the career of Akpoguma at Hoffenheim on Sunday 26th November 2017 in a German Bundesliga game against Hamburg at the Volksparkstadion (Hamburg) 

Former Schalke 04 defender Willi Schulz is the first player credited with an own goal in the German top-flight, and Benjamin Stambouli took the league's tally to 999 in the 4-4 draw with Borussia Dortmund.

Kevin Akpoguma once said his favourite Nigerian food is Pounded Yam which is his father’s favourite. He also mentioned Peppersoup and Jollof Rice but also revealed that he grew up on European food because of his mother.

"Usually, my dad worked a lot and my mum cooked and it was mostly European food," he said

Akpoguma revealed that he's not much into Nigerian music but mentioned Burna Boy as an artist he knows.

Born to a German mother and a Nigerian father, Kevin Akpoguma has represented Germany at youth level, playing for the U16, U17, U18, U19, U20, and U21 teams.

He was the captain of the German U-20 National, helping the team reach the quarterfinals of the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

The former Fortuna Dusseldorf and Hannover man has two caps for Nigeria at international level.
