With the world yet to come to terms with the on going coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, news trending on different twitter handles on twitter has it that a new strain of influenza has been discovered in pigs in China.

This new strain of influenza is said to have the potential to infect human beings. It is said that some workers from the Chinese slaughterhouses and the swine industry have shown signs of infection.

Various twitter handles like BBC Health News @bbchealth; Siphumelele Zondi @SZondi; Sentinel @StratSentinel, among others, have the news trending on Twitter.

It is also said that current flu vaccines do not appear to protect against this flu. Report has it that G4's inclusion of genes from the 2009 H1N1 pandemic "may promote the virus adaptation", which in turn could lead to it being transmitted from person to person.
