Midfielder confirms departure from Chiefs

A Kaizer Chiefs midfielder's agent has announced that the player would not be staying at Naturena beyond June.

Mike Makaab, Kearyn Baccus' agent, has announced that they will be looking for a new club for him in the future, with local interest.

The Soweto giants' midfielder's contract is slated to expire at the end of June.

Baccus joined Amakhosi in 2019 while German coach Ernst Middendorp was in charge, but he has struggled to find a regular spot in the team. Now, as Amakhosi begin to plan for next season, he is not expected to be part of the team.

Baccus will not be returning to the Chiefs. They haven't made an offer, and he isn't in their plans for the future. That is something we must accept." Makaab informed the Siya team.

The 30-year-old has made 12 appearances for the Soweto giants, but has found it difficult to break into the lineup ahead of Phathutshedzo Nange and Cole Alexander, who have generally played whenever he is fit.

Baccus, who did not win any awards during his time with the Chiefs, will consider his options now that the season is over.
