Let's have a look at what the Bible says about betting and the scriptural readings that deal with the issues.

For what will it benefit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? says Mark 8:36 (NKJV).

Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, says Hebrews 13:5 (ESV), because he has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Ecclesiastes, money will not satisfy those who love it, and wealth will not satisfy those who love it. This is also a form of vanity.

12:15 in Luke (NKJV), take heed and beware of covetousness, he warned them, because one's life does not depend in the abundance of the things he possesses.

Exodus 20:17 contains the tenth commandment, which addresses coveting, which is at the basis of many of our issues. One of the reasons why individuals gamble and play the lottery is to make money.

They lust after money, which they hope to obtain quickly and easily. The love of money is the source of all evil, says 1 Timothy 6:10. As a result, the allure of gambling and lottery play falls under these texts. There's more, though. God has given everyone of us unique abilities, such as time, money, and influence. Each person will be required to provide an account of how their abilities were utilized by God. When skills are squandered and dissipated, the indulgent aren't always the only ones who suffer.
