Of recent, murder cases have been on the rampant as several cases have been reported and the bodies of the deceased retrieved while brutally slain. About three weeks ago in Kavengero village, Mbeere North Sub-County in Embu, a four years old boy was reported to be missing. The family, friends and police officers have been on the trail of searching for the boy, but all efforts never yielded any fruits.
However, after a long search, the police have finally retrieved the body of the four years old from river Thuci. Police got a lead from from one of the suspects who led them to the crime scene at the river. On arrival at the river, the officers had to launch another search of the boy's body which was recovered stuck in a rock cleft.
According to KTN news reports, police officers ferried the body to Siakago Hospital mortuary as they went to settle the clashes at the suspects homes which were being torched by angry residents. The locals in the area believe that the purpose of the killing of the child was linked to some rituals which they never explained more. The county deputy commissioner was quoted reporting on the matter saying, “Our security officers have confirmed that a house and a shop have been burned down. I want to appeal to the residents not to take the law into their hands, but I want to assure them the law will take its course."
The two suspects are in police custody as they wait to be arraigned to court after police complete their investigations.
