6 Suspected Cultists Arrested in Kwara

Six suspected cultists have been arrested by operatives of the Kwara state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) attached to Operation Harmony and Anti-Vandal Squad.

This was made known on Saturday by the spokesman of the Command, Babawale Afolabi.

According to him, the Ilorin South division of the Command received information that two factions of cult groups “Abata”and “Aye” were poised for a showdown at Dada area of Okelele and deployed personnel to the area to prevent the breakdown of law and order.

The deployed operatives engaged the suspected cultists in a serious battle that led to the arrest of the six, he said.

Those arrested included, 18 years old Raheem Jamiu; Abdullahi Azeez, aged 20; Sulaimon Folawiyo, 18 years old; Saheed Samad, 18 years old; Sanni Samsudeen 16 and Jamiu Isa, aged 19.

Items recovered from the suspects included axes, cutlasses and knives.

Afolabi said efforts were on to transfer the case to the State Police Command for thorough investigation and possible prosecution.
