The organization in charge of running the Bui hydroelectric dam, the Bui Power Authority (BPA), plans to construct a multi-million dollar solar power plant in Yendi. The 50MW project, which is scheduled to begin in the second to last quarter of 2022, seeks to provide solar energy for Gridco substations.

Kofi Samuel Dzamesi, chief executive officer of the Bui Power Authority, gave the enclave of Yendi his word that the project would deal with their electricity problems. We anticipate that when it is finished, the project will alleviate the electricity difficulties in the Yendi area.

On behalf of the residents of Yendi, the member of parliament for Yendi, Farouk Aliu Mahama, expressed thanks and joy for the management of the Bui power. "Let me beg Bui Power Authority to try and get the soft-skilled youth of the Constituency employed during the construction of the multi-million dollar project," she said.

The Yendi congressman praised Bui power and gave them a guarantee of his ongoing support. This year's $90 million project is anticipated to get underway in September. The Bui Power Authority announced in April of this year that it would construct eight solar power plants in the country's north by 2022, with a combined capacity of 259 MW.

The plants will be situated in the Northern Region's Yendi, the Savannah Region's Buipe and Sawla, and the Upper East Region's Zebilla and Bolgatanga. By the first quarter of 2023, the project, which will have a total capacity of 259 MW, is anticipated to be operational.

By 2024, it ought to produce 700 MWp of solar energy. Due to their proximity to the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) substations in the country's north, the sites were chosen.
