Some of these actors are very much grounded in their craft, and their interpretation and delivery of characters in a movie is nothing short of amazing as they have stood out in Nollywood. Over the years, these actors have thrilled us in every movie they have appeared in.

The reason why these actors have been outstanding is not far-fetched as they were students of Theatre Arts where they learned the nitty-gritty of the theatre arts which includes acting, movie production, directing, stage production and all aspects of the theatre arts. The interesting part is that these actors were taught in the university by a lecturer Sam Dede who is also an actor and has made an indelible mark in the movie industry with his remarkable talent.

In this article, I will be sharing with you 3 talented actors in Nollywood that were students of Sam Dede at the University of Port Harcourt and they have done remarkably well in their acting career just like their mentor. They have been quite successful and outstanding in the movie industry. The beautiful part is that these 3 actors that were once students of Sam Dede are now his colleagues.

First, let's take a look at Sam Dede who was their former lecturer

Sam Dede

Sam Dede is a veteran Nigerian actor, director, lecturer, and politician. He hails from Rivers State.

The prolific actor bagged a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Port Harcourt and subsequently obtained a Master's degree from the University of Port Harcourt. He acted in stage dramas and television soap operas while still an undergraduate.

He joined Nollywood in 1995 and came to the limelight after starring in the movie Ijele. He has been a lecturer for a couple of years at the University Port Harcourt and has taught some of our biggest Nollywood stars who all obtained a bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts from the University.

Over the years, he has starred in several movies and has won a couple of notable awards.

1. Yul Edochie

Yul Edochie is a Nigerian actor and movie director who is the son of veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie. He hails from Anambra State.

The talented actor bagged a bachelor's degree in Dramatic Arts from the University of Port Harcourt. He joined Nollywood when he starred in his first movie The Exquire. However, his breakthrough movie was Wind of Glory starring alongside Genevieve Nnaji and Desmond Elliot.

Over the years, the prolific actor with a baritone voice has starred in several movies and has grown in leaps and bounds, and has added more feathers to his cap as a director. A couple of times, he has taken to his Instagram page to shower accolades on his former lecturer who is now his colleague. He acknowledged him as his mentor and the person who laid the foundation for his success today. Sam Dede who was his former lecturer also showered accolades on him.

2. Rita Dominic

Rita Dominic is a Nigerian actress and producer. She hails from Imo State.

The super talented actress bagged a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Port Harcourt. She starred in her first movie A Time to Kill in 1998. Over the years, the delectable actress who is also a fashionista has starred in several movies often playing the lead role. In the course of her successful acting career, she has a couple of notable awards to her credit.

Sam Dede once took to his Instagram page to shower accolades on the beautiful actress.

3. Walter Anga

Walter Anga is a Nigerian actor and television personality. He hails from Rivers State.

The talented actor bagged a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Port Harcourt. He starred in his first movie Labista in 2003 alongside Jerry Amilo, Ernest Asuzu, and Emma Ehumadu.

Over the years, he has starred in several Nollywood movies and has a couple of awards to his credit. Sam Dede was one of his lecturers while he was in the university.
