Ghanaian celebrities who were born with a golden spoon in their mouth


Not every successful person has a ‘rags to riches’ story. Some success stories are in the mold of ‘riches to greater riches’. This is to say that there are those who are born into financially established families and as a result, are faced with the relatively easier task of ensuring continuity.

Here, we take a look at some Ghanaian celebrities who were born into such successful families and as a result, fall into the category of those who were born ‘with a golden spoon in their mouth’:

Reggie Rockstone

Born, Reginald Osei, he is also known as the Godfather of Hip-Life. Reggie Rockstone was born in the United Kingdom to the accomplished Ghanaian fashion designer, Ricky ‘Ricci’ Osei.


Kwame Ametepee Tsikata, popularly known as M.anifest is the son of renowned lawyer and politician, Tsatsu Tsikata.


Mensah Ansah was born in Accra but was raised in the USA and the UK. M3nsah’s father is the popular actor, composer, ethnomusicologist, musician and poet, Tumi Ebow Ansah.

M3nsa has starred in several European and African movies such as; Farewell to Dope, Genesis, Chapter X, His Majesty’s Sargeant as well as the award-winning movie, Heritage Africa where he played the role of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana.

Ama K. Abebrese

Ama K. Abebrese is a daughter of one of the prominent Ghanaians who fought for the nation’s freedom from colonial rule.

Ama Abebrese was born in Ghana but raised in the United Kingdom and she has interviewed personalities of global appeal such as; Harrison Ford, Neyo, Idris Elba, Akon and Rihanna.

Sister Debby and Wanlov da Kubolor

Sister Debby and her brother, Wanlov da Kubolor’s father used to own shares in Vanef STC, which used to run the Intercity STC Coaches Ltd prior to its takeover by SSNIT. Their mum is from Romania.

Yvonne Okoro

Yvonne Okoro’s family is so rich to the extent that she owned a home in Ghana’s prestigious address, East Legon long before she began her acting career. Yvonne Okoro is an alumnus of Universite de Nantes, France where she read Press Civilization, Drama and Marketing.


Efya’s real name is Jane Awindor and she is the daughter of Adwoa Awindor, a successful filmmaker who founded the Premier Productions, responsible for producing Greetings from Abroad.

Nadia Buari

Nadia Buari’s mother is Hajia Buari, a beautician and her father is Alhaji Sidiku Buari, a highly respected musician and producer.

Majid Michel

The ‘playboy’, Majid Michel comes from a family which owns thriving businesses and quite a number of houses in Cantonment, an area in Accra. 

Lydia Forson, John Dumelo, and Yvonne Nelson were also born with golden spoons in their mouths.
