Kaizer Chiefs is in deep talks with a lot of players that they feel will be a superb addition to the squad. This isn't a smooth journey as there will be always disagreements and even some great results as well. It will all depend on the conversations held between the club and the player's representatives. This can be a long and tiring back and forth kind of negotiations. All that's needed is patience, especially on the Chiefs side as they require players to challenge for trophies next season. Their head coach Gavin Hunt has said on numerous occasions that he doesn't have players that are equipped to win silverwares as their seen as deadwood at the moment. The worst thing that Hunt has to face does not have to have depth on his squad and even trusted star players that can win games for him.
Now, it has been reported that Amakhosi have dealt with an unfortunate setback on their transfer plans for the next campaign. After it's believed that one of their targets looks into extending his contract with the current employers. The player in question is the talented Leletu Skelem who has been heavily linked with a move to Naturena. However, his current team Stellenbosch FC will be taking up the option on his contract to keep him with the club. Initially, Skelem's deal with the Stellies expired at the end of next months, with an option to extend for another season. According to KickOff.com, the club will be taking that option up. This means that the Phefeni Glamour Boys will have to wait in line for the services of Skelem, for another year if he agrees to everything with Stellies.
It is believed that the 23-year-old has been offered a new and improved contract which is set to keep him longer within the club. As he has been very instrumental for Stellies and they've acknowledged that if they lose him, no one can take his spot at the moment. What's surprising is that Skelem hasn't signed his new contract at Stellies. Looking at his stint at Stellenbosch this season, whereby he hasn't played a full 90 minutes in the last 15 games, has turned into a talking point. It's believed that the noise from outside about his move to Chiefs has distracted his performance for Stellies.
Skelem has only managed to score one goal, which is another disappointing thing as he was able to score four last season and was more deadly against opponents. He has lacked focus and determination in this current campaign for Steve Barker's men. Only time will tell if he chooses to stay with Stellenbosch or jump ships to Chiefs.
