Vihiga Governor Wilbur Otichillo has urged politicians, both incumbent and aspiring to stop what he termed as early campaigns ahead of next year's general elections.

The Governor spoke in Luanda Sub County on Saturday, during the burial service of six Vihiga County residents who perished in a road accident at Kaburengu, along Webuye - Eldoret Highway a fortnight ago.

The six are Richard Osimbo, Rebecca Sindeyi, Rosbella Kepha, John Nyambaka, Vincent Asiema and Martin Zare.

Otichillo said that current leaders are in office to work for the people until next year, urging politicians to tone down on campaigns. He also requested them to stop inciting youths to cause violence.

"The person who preached here told us the absolute truth. He said leadership comes from God; and God works through his people. Those who think that they will ascend to power through organizing youths to cause violence should forget it," he said.

Otichillo is expected to vie for a second term during next year's elections.
