A statement signed by the Deputy Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Anthony Boateng has revealed that the service has indefinitely postponed the ICT training which was to be organized for teachers in relation with the one teacher one laptop initiative. "Management of Ghana Education Service (GES) will like to inform you that the online ICT training in connection with the One Teacher One Laptop initiative scheduled for 16th February, 2022 has been put on hold”
According to the GES, it will collaborate with the with KA Technologies (KAT) and Microsoft to have further deliberations and discussions to come up with a new date and timeline.
Earlier GES released a letter inviting teachers to participate in a 3 days online workshop. Each teacher was to pay 300cedis (100 cedis for each day). The workshop was to also help teachers to accumulate CPD points for their professional development.
Many teacher Unions kicked against the initiative with the reason that the amount to be paid is too much. They also cited that it's difficult for all teachers to get access to network.
