Media colossus and editor-in-chief of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Junior has boldly taken a swipe at government over it's uncoordinated communications and renaming of the power crisis faced by the country in recent times.
Speaking on Metro TV's Good Morning Ghana hosted by Dr. Randy Abbey, the firebrand journalist quizzed why government seems to be playing acrobatics with dumsor. "What is all this acrobatics with dumsor? When the lights go off it is dum, when it comes back it is sor. It is not like it is always on or off. It goes and comes back and that is dumsor".
The country have been experiencing intermittent power outages for about a month now. State actors and those in the energy sector have debunked comments that Ghana is back to dumsor and has given it different names. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, minister of energy has attributed the outages to a nationwide maintenance works that is being carried out.
Mr. Pratt again said, the signs were clear last year that we were going to be experiencing intermittent power outages because of the debts facing the sector.
" I predicted that we will get here last year. I made that prediction based on the financial crisis facing the energy sector. Even if you take the Independent Power Producers out, GRIDCO, ECG and all agencies under the sector is badly indebted".
