Since independence the rulling government not only in Kenya but in Africa as a whole have been involved in a greasy fight against illegal firearms in their states.

Kenya has been in the fore front in fighting the smuggling and usage of illegal fire arms in and within the boundaries of the state. The reason behind this is because since independence the smuggling of illegal arms has brought about community conflicts especially in nomadic communities. More so, it has promoted cattle rustling.

President Uhuru Kenyatta earlier today arrived at the Traffic Police Training Centre in Ngong, Kajiado County to preside over the destruction of 5,144 illicit firearms recovered during the year 2020.

Speaking today during the occasion the head of state assured the local arms makers that the government is in planning to hire them to aid the government in the manufacture the locally made arms.

The news the raised several reaction mostly on social media because Kenyans had different opinions in regard to the issue.
