The Bosnian midfielder agreed to a salary pay cut of £3.4 million with Barcelona to continue paying him while he's on loan. The midfielder endured a frustrating season at Camp Nou as he struggled to command a regular starting berth and criticised the lack of communication from his former boss Ronald Koeman.

"I couldn't get used to the situation I faced last year. I knew I didn't want it. I'm a player. I love playing football, this is what makes me happy," says the 31-year old midfielder.

He continued: "I always wanted to play for Barcelona but I didn't expect the situation to get so complicated."

"There was a point that I was playing less, things were getting complicated. And when I played it was difficult physicallyand mentally to well, because it was killing my confidence, because i had no communication with the coach (Koeman)." He explained.

"It was strange, because a coach is the one who says who plays and who doesn't." The 31-year old midfielder explained.
