It is no longer news that the former Minister of Women Affairs Aisha Jumai Alhasan, popularly known as Mama Taraba has died today in a hospital in Cairo, Egypt. The news of her death was disclosed by her media aid who said that she will be highly missed.
Mama Taraba was a woman that defined her part in the political system of Nigeria. She served as a senator representing her people in the red chamber for many years. She contested for Taraba governorship race two time but lost in each of them.
She was appointed as the Federal Minister of Women Affairs in 2016 by Mohammed Buhari after he took over power from Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 general election and she served in the ministry for 3 years before resigning in July 2018 prior to the 2019 election.
She also represented Nigeria in consultative meeting with African Union Ministers in charge of Gender and women Equality and Empowerment of rural women and girls.
Below are more photos of her with her family, Nigerian popular politicians and AU representatives.
