It is the dream of many to own a car or drive one in their life time.
However, before one can drive a car on the road in Ghana, one must possess a driver's license before as required by law.
Even before one can acquire this driver's license, there are certain processes one must go through at the Driver, Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA) before you can be issued with a valid license to drive.
Some of the requirements include, you must be above 18 years, you should be able to read road signs, eye test conducted to see how your eye vision is among others.
It is important to note that, per the laws of Ghana, the body mandated to issue a driver's license in Ghana is the DVLA and one must get his or her license from them.
There are different types of drivers license in Ghana and each of these is used for different driving purposes under the law.
Currently, the DVLA has 5 different types of drivers license that it issue to people.
Below are the types of license and what they can be used for.
Drivers License A : people with this type of license can only use it to ride motorcycles.
Drivers License B: this license is used for minibusses, cross-country vehicles and pick up vehicles.
Drivers License C: this is also used for busses and medium goods carrying vehicles.
Drivers License D: it is used busses, coaches and heavy goods vehicles.
Drivers License E : people with this type of license can use it agricultural, earth moving and industrial equipment vehicles.
