The independent electoral and boundaries commission (IEBC) held a pre election conference with presidential candidates who are contesting in the coming general elections scheduled for August this year; the aim being to level expectations and brief the aspirants of crucial electoral matters.
As a result of the conference, the country's electoral body declared that ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi will not be allowed to contest in this coming general elections after failing to meet crucial electoral sidelines and requirements.
Among the items Musalia Mudavadi failed to act on is the requirement on naming a running mate and forwarding his name to the IEBC even as he also missed out on the signature collection exercise in majority of the counties that support his bid. Mudavadi had submitted his name as a presidential candidate. He was among several aspirants who were disqualified.
This is even as it emerges that deputy president William Ruto is expected to make an appearance before the IEBC on Saturday next week for registration as a presidential candidate. Azimio la umoja One Kenya coalition party presidential candidate Raila Odinga is also expected to do the same on Sunday.
