He was born in the Ghanaian town of Bantama, in the Ashanti Region. He was a former New Patriotic Party student activist who was a pioneer in the founding of the party's tertiary students' wing, the Tertiary Students Confederacy of the New Patriotic Party, before entering mainstream politics in Ghana.
After earning a bachelor's degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Asenso-Boakye went on to Michigan State University to obtain a master's degree in public policy and administration as a Rotary Scholar.
Prior to joining H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-staff Addo's and campaign, he worked for the Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare (MESW), Global Media Alliance (GMA), Delta Acquisitions and Growth, Delaware, USA, Michigan House of Representatives, Michigan, USA, Ghana Free Zones Board (GFZB), Planning Officer, Tema Export Processing Zone (TEPZ) Project Manager, and a Receptionist.
Asenso-Boakye is the father of three children and is married to a woman who many dream of as the perfect wife. He is a very secretive person and keeps his family life separate from his political career. He is a family man and always make sure his family gets the best of everything and infact it’s of no doubt he treats his wife as the queen she deserves to be treated.
