After last weekend's spectacular win over Swallows FC, Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat has insisted that he and his colleagues would not get ahead of themselves.
Billiat was a standout for Chiefs on Sunday, scoring two and assisting on another as the Amakhosi romped to a 3-1 DStv Premiership victory against Soweto rivals Swallows FC.
The 31-year-old was obviously happy with the club's success over the weekend, but he cautioned that there was still work to be done before the celebrations could begin.
He told Kaizer Chiefs' media crew, "We are professional enough." "Isn't it true that we used to celebrate when we were younger?
"We now celebrate in a more professional manner. We don't need to go out there and party like the league is over. We must maintain our concentration.
"We have a great squad, and I always have faith in my boys; whether I play or not, we are confident in the outcome, and we work hard as we always do."
"I'm pleased for the team, and I'm pleased that we continue to improve. We are aware of each other's importance in obtaining the maximum number of points."
Chiefs' play has improved in recent weeks after a shaky start to the season, and the Glamour Boys are presently in second place in the league standings.
Billiat, on the other hand, is not looking at the table, preferring to focus on the club's recent run, which has seen them win five of their previous seven domestic matches.
"It's not easy," he remarked, "but we're not looking at the table." "Perfect now, we want to concentrate on doing what the coaches want us to do and getting the fundamentals right."
"This will always assist us in achieving good outcomes and performances, after which we will review the table. We shall remain focused and humble while continuing to work hard for the team."
