1 KCSE Candidate Charged With Exam Cheating

A KCSE candidate who was arraigned in court on Wednesday afternoon this week will continue doing examinations in police custody for taking pictures of exam questions in exam room and sharing them with a person who was answering and sending them back.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha says the student was allowed into the examination room with a smartphone by invigilators and the supervisor, something which is against the exam rules and regulations.

Speaking in Homa Bay town on April 7 in company of Homa Bay County Director of Education Fredrick Kiiru and Homa Bay County Commissioner Moses Lilan while supervising the opening of KCSE examination container and distribution of papers, CS Magoha expressed his dissatisfaction with teachers who still have the audacity to attempt leaking exam questions despite a series of warnings.

According to Magoha, the Ministry of Education will not allow anybody to interfere with the credibility and integrity of the KCSE examination and therefore those in charge of the examination centre and supervisors must be punished.

"Why would a centre manager and officials manning the examinations collude on allowing such irregularities to take place? Disciplinary actions will be taken against them and their ill behaviour put their jobs at risk," warned Magoha.
