The political atmosphere in Nigeria is heating up gradually as the clock ticks down to the 2023 elections. And while many of the likely presidential aspirants are still silent on their ambitions, their supporters have been campaigning loudly.

One of those that have been tipped to join the race to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 is the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo. Analysts rate the VP as one of the favourites to clinch APC's ticket.

The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo has been loyal to the President. Recently, the President Buhari directed Osibanjo to look into the crisis rocking the Party.

Professor Yemi Osibanjo was asked to settle the crisis and to seek for legal opinions from Lawyers in the cabinet on whether Buni should be removed as Chairman of the Party or not. Though, Some Leaders among the Cabinet Members disagreed on whether Buni should be removed or not.

But for President Buhari to have directed Osibanjo to solve the crisis, it shows the cordial relationship between the President and Osibanjo. This implies that President Buhari may support Osibanjo, if He Should Contest 2023 Presidential race.

Governor Makinde who has been into the Nigerian politics for over a decade has not only proved his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic party, but has exercised his power, effectively, as the Governor of Oyo state for the two years he has stayed since he was elected in 2019.

The PDP may be aware of the fact that Nigerians are probably wishing for a younger president, and Makinde who is just 53 years old may seem likely to be a perfect candidate for the presidential election.

The executive governor of Rivers state is another strong candidate who has also established himself as a force to reckon with in the Peoples Democratic Party. As far as the entire South South region is concerned, Nyesom Wike is considered as a big fish. If chosen by PDP, there are great chances he might be able to withstand any candidate chosen by APC.

Firstly, one of the major factors that will work for the favour of Peter Obi presidential candidate, is the fact that, the southern leaders have spoken with one voice about their demand that the next president should come from the zone and as a result, putting Peter Obi forward as the presidential candidate of the party, will most likely sway millions of votes from the the whole of South (comprising of Southeast, South-south and Southwest) in favour of the party.

One of the major factors that could attest to this prediction, was how the PDP won in all the states in the South-south and Southeast in the last presidential election, when Obi ran as vice-presidential candidate of the PDP.
