A senatorial candidate in Machakos county has written to the Independent Electoral and boundaries commission decrying the removal of his campaign posters.

Otto Edward Musembi an independent candidate stated that the other candidates have been defacing, removing and even sticking their posters over his.

He called for the election commission to take action over the issue claiming that it has cost him a lot of money and time, printing other posters this derailing his campaigns.

"I would like to forward my complaints to your office for action. I have noted and documented that the candidates for this seat have been defacing completely removing and sticking posters over my posters," read his letter.

He disclosed that some of the constituencies where the trend has been happening include Mavoko, Kathiani, Yatta, Matungulu and Machakos town.

"I have documented cases in Mavoko constituency, Matungulu constituency, Machakos town constituency, Kathiani and Yatta. This has greatly affected my campaigns as I now have incurred extra costs to have more posters done," he noted.

He urged the commission to assure him that they will not overlook his issue but will swing into action immediately.

Nthenge is among ten candidates vying for the senatorial seat for the by-elections slated for 18th March 2021.

Other candidates in the race include Wiper's Agnes Kavindu, UDA's Urbanus Ngengele, Muungano's John Musings, MCCP's Mutua Katuku among other independent candidates.

The by-elections are due to the death of Boniface Kabaka late last year.
