4 Manchester United Players Who Need To Step Up After Atlanta Win

In another hectic Champions League night at Old Trafford, Manchester United staged a stunning comeback to defeat Atalanta.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the game-winning goal for United. On the night, the Portuguese was one of United's finest players, but his performance was far from flawless.

Despite the win, here are four Manchester United players who need to improve:

1. Victor Lindelof

Victor Lindelof's problems at Manchester United since his arrival in 2017 were highlighted in one moment in the second half of the match against Atlanta. Duvan Zapata outmuscled and turned him too easily, then fired a goal-scoring shot.

Too frequently, Lindelof is viewed as the weak link in United's defensive line, and he did little to improve that perception last night.

With Raphael Varane out due to injury, this is a fantastic opportunity for him to step up. He doesn't seem to be taking advantage of the situation right now.

2. Mason Greenwood

Mason Greenwood's performance was disappointing, as he seemed to be more of an individual than a team member at times. The England striker struggled to get into the game, with no shots on target and no chances created.

When he was replaced, United's offense appeared more fluid, and there's a good probability he'll be benched against Liverpool this weekend.

At times, Cristiano Ronaldo appeared impatient with the youngster, and while Greenwood's confidence is admirable, he would be better off deferring to the number 7 and following his directions on occasion.

Luke Shaw

Another player who deserves credit for his assist on Cristiano Ronaldo's game-winning goal. Shaw, on the other hand, continues to be a source of concern on defence, as he has been for the first few weeks of the season.

Shaw was nowhere to be found for Atalanta's opening goal down his side, and he was then outjumped for the visitors' second. Although the assist may boost his confidence, he must perform on both ends, especially with Alex Telles lurking in the wings.

4. Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes struggled for the opening 40 minutes until rediscovering his passing range towards the conclusion of the half. Fernandes had an assist towards the end of the game and could have had several more.

By the time Fernandes got his act together, United have only fallen behind 2-0. At the weekend, Liverpool may be more brutal.
