Every animal have the difence mechanism that it was born with to protect it's self from danger. Wether the animal is dangerous or harmless of it senses a danger or feel threatened it will do whatever it takes to fight back or run away from the danger. It won't allow to be killed in vain without fighting, that is how they survive in the wild. Everything can happen at any time.
Porcupine is one of the dangerous animals in the wild because it has sharp spines on its back that protect it against predators like leopards, lions, hyenas and even humans. If it feels threatened its spines look stand up straight facing all directions and try to cover up the whole porcupine against the predator. If the predator persit on fighting the porcupine it will end up with injuries that can lead to infection or even death depending on how big is the spines.
Porcupines do not attack unless they feel they are threatened. Their quills can get broken inside and will start to move around inside the skin. This can result in deadly infections if you do not get the proper treatment. When the porcupine animal spikes you, it puts you at risk of developing diseases such as rabies.
Porcupines are large rodents which can defend themselves with their hard barbed quills but contrary to the myth, they cannot take aim and fire at you with them. You do need to take care when you encounter porcupines their quills are as dangerous as they look.
These thin spines are painful for any creature that gets too close. While porcupine quills are not poisonous only a doctor or veterinarian should attempt to remove them. Quills have barbs that cannot be seen by the naked eye.
Porcupines are herbivores some porcupines love wood and eat a lot of bark and stems. They also eat nuts, tubers, seeds, grass, leaves, fruit and buds. Though they don't eat meat, porcupines chew on bones to sharpen their teeth.
