Wapi Pay CEO Eddie Ndichu has been the talk of social media after he was involved in a scuffle last weekend at Ole Sereni hotel in Nairobi. A video shared widely on different social platforms showed Eddie and his twin brother Paul causing drama at the hotel's lobby after two ladies reportedly turned down their advances.
The viral video has sparked alot of reactions online, prompting some foreign investors to cut ties with a company that he runs with his brother. Eddie has issued a personal statement concerning the incident, following public uproar.
In the statement, he said he is extremely saddened by the incident although he cannot comment on the matter at the moment. He said the incident is being handled by relevant authorities after he recorded a statement with the police.
He vowed to cooperate with all stakeholders to ensure speedy conclusion of the matter.
His statement comes at a time when Kenyans online are pilling pressure on various stakeholders to cut ties with him, following the Saturday incident. One of the foreign companies that had invested in a tech start up that he runs with his brother has already pulled out.
Eddie was also forced to step down as Board Member of the Association of Fintechs in Kenya(AFIK) after the damaging scandal.
