Last year, the football federation of Kenya took Gor Mahia to represent Kenya in the CAF tournament that took place in Dar Salam Tanzania, which saw Gor being knocked out of the tournament by Napsa Stars . The late penalty awarded by the ref to Zambia side Napsa Stars, changed the situation after Gor mahia players started fighting the ref over the penalty awarded to Napsa Stars. Police had to come in and solve the issue.
After Gor mahia losing 2-1 at home, they went to Zambia where they expected to win but the game ended 2-2 draw, leaving Gor Mahia out of the tournament.
Last weekend FKF Chairman Nick Mwendwa addressed the media over the issue concerning Caf representative, and said that Tusker has been given the opportunity, and will represent Kenya in the CAF tournament next year.
Nick Mwendwa admitted that Gor Mahia will not be able to represent Kenya, because of their Financial crisis that made the team to start begging. He also said that the issue of Gor mahia players fighting the ref over the penalty in Zambia last year, is also the reason why they had sit down and come up with a team that can behave and handle situations with respect.
