The beautiful Miss Zozibini Tunzi proves that one can achieve what ever that goal that they put their minds on. Many did not believe she will be crowned Miss South Africa. Upon winning the crown she pushed further and won the gigantic crown of being Miss Universe. She is coming back to South Africa to judge Miss SA 2020 which will be happening on the 24 October 2020 at The Table Bay hotel.
Other judges who will be faced with this mountanius task is the multi-award-winning, radio and TV presenter Anele Mdoda. Famous for her elegance and zeal she is familiar with the judging process of Miss South Africa. She judged the pageant in 2014 when Rolene Strauss went on to win Miss World.
Beautiful Anele Mdoda gave a few hints on the evolution of beaty contestants and what she is looking for in the next Miss South Africa.
When asked if there has been a change in the significance of beaty contestants she alluded :
“I think they have changed and they have stayed the same. The premise is we are still in a BEAUTY pageant and for me that has always come in many shapes and forms. What has changed is that for a long time we relied on the international tone to tell us what beautiful is and now we are saying these are our standards of beauty and we can't be dictated to.”
Why does she believe that South Africans are supportive towards beauty contestants? This is seen in how Miss South Africa is always packed to the brim. The overwhelming support that South Africans have towards Miss SA is out of this world.
She said “ South Africans love a person who backs themselves and I believe that when a lady says I am entering Miss SA, she has gone through many stages of self-doubt and being apprehensive. But along the line the self-belief has to kick in and I think as South Africans we look forward to the results of them standing in that power."
What traits will she be looking for in new Miss South Africa?
“Same thing I look for every year. Someone who comes in with their own blueprints of what beauty is and takes us on their journey. We are merely facilitators in someone’s journey. You have to make me believe your plan.”
Words of wisdom to the top 10 contestants :
“Presence and intent. Be present in every moment, it goes by so quickly and whether you win or not, you miss the process when it's done. Every action you take, every answer you reply to, every time you grace the stage or a judging session, a moment with the media, always ask yourself what is your intention. When you are clear about your intentions, things go really easier for you. Lastly the winner has big shoes to fill.
She must bring her own shoes!”
The Top 10 Miss SA finalists hail from different provinces are Lebogang Mahlangu, Aphelele Mbiyo, Busisiwe Mmotla, Chantelle Pretorius, Jordan van der Vyver, Melissa Nayimuli, Natasha Joubert, Shudufhadzo Musida, Thato Mosehle and Karishma Ramdev.
This year's event promises to be more jam packed with a higher standard. Miss Tunzi has set the bar so high many are looking for someone who will represent South Africa without fear or favour. Someone who is true to themselves and authentic.
