How Chelsea Line Up Might Look Like Next Season If They Sign Their Transfer Targets This Summer

The summer transfer window is England is now officially open and clubs have already started identifying their targets in order to strengthen their squads for the forthcoming season.

After winning the UEFA Champions League trophy, Chelsea are one club whose name has been mentioned all over the news due to the fact that they have been linked with a number of quality players in recent time. According to reports from multiple sources, the Blues are interested in signing Erling Haaland, Achraf Hakimi, Declan Rice and also Aurelien Tchouameni.

Haaland is the currently the hottest player in the transfer market. The 20 year old has been banging in the goals for Borussia Dortmund since signing for them from Salzburg in Austria in January 2020.

In his one and the half seasons so far in Germany, Haaland's record has been incredible. The young striker from Norway has a total of 57 goals and 15 assists in just 59 matches (in all competitions) for Borussia Dortmund.

He is also on his way to becoming a UEFA Champions League legend because his record in that competition is very impressive too. He has 20 goals and 3 assists in 16 matches for both Salzburg and Dortmund combined.

Another player who Chelsea have been strongly linked with is Inter Milan's wing back - Achraf Hakimi. He is a player who has captured the interest of some of the top clubs in Europe, including Paris Saint Germain and Chelsea.

According to reports in the last 48 hours, Chelsea have successfully matched PSG's £56.1m (€60m) for him and are even willing to include a couple of their players (Emerson and/or Christensen) in the deal to reduce Inter Milan's asking price.

The 22 year old right wing back has a reputation for being one of the best (if not the best) wing backs in the game at the moment. He possesses strength, stamina and speed which allows him to dominate the right flank effectively, both in attack and in defence. He also has a decent crossing ability and is a good attack minded player who can link up well with the attackers in front.

Also, West Ham's Declan Rice is another player who Thomas Tuchel is interested in signing. The English midfielder is someone who has been on the radar of Chelsea for a long time, even during the era of Frank Lampard as coach.

According to reports, Chelsea are willing to bring the player to Stamford Bridge this summer, although West Ham's asking price might prove to be an issue for the deal to go through.

West Ham are believed to be asking for a fee of £80 million for him, a price tag which the Chelsea board are not willing to pay.

As a result, the Blues have included Monaco of France midfielder - Aurelien Tchouameni as an alternative option in case they end up not signing Rice.

Tchouameni is a very similar type of player to Declan Rice. The 21 year old (born 27 January 2000) is a defensive midfielder who likes to sit in front of the defence line and protect them. He has a good marking ability, strength on the ball and is also capable of shooting from range to contribute some goals to his team.

How will Chelsea line up with these players?

Chelsea already have one of the best squads in Europe at the moment, and their club is filled with lots of top quality players both in the first team and at youth level. However, that has not stopped them from planning to add more world class players to their team so that they can challenge for more trophies from next season.

If they end up signing their transfer targets for this summer, they will become a very strong team under Thomas Tuchel and they are going to be very hard for any team to beat.

Signing Haaland is going to be beneficial for a player like Timo Werner, who likes to play alongside a natural center forward (a real number 9). Expect Chelsea to line up with Haaland up top and Werner just behind him to provide support in attack.

Achraf Hakimi will most likely occupy the right wing back spot so that he can impact the team with his speed and crossing ability. Reece James was Chelsea's first choice player at right wing back last season, but also showed in a few matches that he can play as a Center back. He is expected to move back to play as a right center back or Azpilicueta will keep his place in that position.

As for the midfield position, we expect Jorginho to drop out with the arrival of Declan Rice (or Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco). Any of those two defensive midfielders will play in midfield alongside Ngolo Kante.

Below is a picture representing how Chelsea will probably line up if they end up signing their transfer targets this summer.
