The available indicators have shown that Senator Biodun Olujimi may likely defeat the former Governor of the State, Segun Oni, to fly the flag of PDP in the June 18, 2022 governorship election in Ekiti State because of two important reasons.

Agitation For Zoning

One of the reasons that may favour Senator Olujimi over the former Governor, Segun Oni is the ongoing agitation for zoning in Ekiti State.

Recall that since the return of democracy in 1999, the position of the State Governor has been under the control of Ekiti North and Ekiti Central Senatorial Districts.

The Ekiti South Senatorial District where Senator Biodun Olujimi hails from has not produced the Governor of the State.

The people of Ekiti South Senatorial District are now calling on their fellow politicians from the other two senatorial districts to allow them to produce the next Governor of the State in the spirit of equity and fair play.

With the ongoing agitation for zoning, the Peoples Democratic Pary may likely zone its governorship ticket to Ekiti South where Senator Olujimi hails from.

Recall that the former Governor of the State, Segun Oni hails from Ekiti North Senatorial District where the current Governor, Kayode Fayemi, hails from.

Senator Olujimi's Current Political Influence

Another thing that may also work for Senator Biodun Olujimi is her current political influence in the Peoples Democratic Party and the entire State.

Olujimi, a former Deputy Governor of the Ekiti State and a serving Senator has been able to create a strong political structure for herself that will make it easy for her to clinch the governorship ticket of PDP for the June 18, 2022 election.

It would be difficult for Segun Oni who left office over ten years ago to defeat the incumbent Senator Biodun Olujimi.
