"Beware Of Mocking The Prophetic," Bishop Oyedepo Warns

Today in the Winners' Chapel worldwide, there was a gather of cell ministers and church leaders called the Empowerment Summit. This monthly meeting is designed to teach, encourage and edify these people, causing them to be charged up and ready to take on the task God has for them for the month.

In the message titled "It's no big deal for God to double the attendance of this church in one month," Bishop Oyedepo declared that prophetic words are laughable words. He said that they are words subject to mockery. He gave the example of the prophecy of Elisha in the old testament. Elisha gave the prophecy in a period of deep famine, that there would be abundance of food the next day. Bishop Oyedepo in narrating the story said;

"The king's servant was saying 'Is that possible? We are in charge of the logistics and everything. Even if God opens windows in heaven, it cannot happen.' What did he get? You will see it, but you will not partake of it. And the next day, he was trampled to death. Beware of mocking the prophetic."

"If God gives you a prophetic word for example, your star is rising this month, if you look at yourself and laugh, God will remove your name from the list of stars rising because of your mockery."

I believe what the Bishop said. After all, God has boasted of his ability to foretell because of his omniscience in the book of Isaiah, so it makes sense to punish people who mock what he has declared, especially through his prophets. But then, do you think God will do these to his children? Remember in the Bible that Abraham and Sarah laughed at first when God told them that they will give birth to a child at their old age.

Genesis 17:17: "Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?"

Genesis 18:12-13: "Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?"

What God did, in my opinion, was to strengthen Abraham's faith, thereby enabling him to believe the prophetic word.
