The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin has listened to the petition of the students and has agreed to remove the 20,000 naira late school fee payment she introduced, and also dissolve the payment deadline. She has officially called off the announced temporary closure of the institution and has asked every student to return for lectures including those staying in hostels.
This happened after she was forced to come down from her vehicle and trek to the main gate of the University to address the students. She has shown some motherly understanding and students are preparing to come back, for those that left already with their properties. The screenshot below is a verified UNIBEN group on Facebook.
The students have been asked to suspend all protest activities since their petition has been agreed to. Feel free to share your thoughts thoughts by leaving a comment behind, also like and share.
